The Kissing Project Day 17 | David & Holly Radde

Day 17…A Family After God’s Own Heart!

Meet my brother and sister-in-law, David and Holly Radde. This outstanding couple is not just family (Holly is Rebecca’s older sister), they are some of our best friends. David works for USA Financial and Holly is a stay-at-home mom, raising their 3 daughters. Move over football…enter dress-up and My Little Ponies! They are adorable. We are blessed to see them often. We love dancing in their living room, watching their fashion shows and talking about what they learned in Sunday School. David and Holly work diligently to inspire them to seek God first, through personal example.

How did you two meet? We met on Labor Day at a beach party for Calvary Church’s young adults group. We both had different groups of friends, but we were all together for a few hours out on the beach.  Holly saw David and was immediately impressed with his swimsuit (wink wink).

What was your first date? There is much debate about when we had our first date. After the beach day, we saw each other at church, but didn’t really get to know each other. Then at a Superbowl part, a friend of David’s asked for my name and number. A few weeks later, we went out to lunch at a little Italian restaurant around the corner from my office.

David: “It was just lunch.”

Holly: “It sounded like a date to me.”

What was your favorite Valentine’s Day memory? Holly: “David enjoys planning small 3 or 4 day getaways for us. A few years ago he planned a getaway to Blackstar Farms. We had the entire place to ourselves – 8 guest rooms to wander through and 160 acres in Northern Michigan! We played board games and eventually went snowshoeing around the property – it was fantastic!”

The Kissing Project Day 16 | Dean & Amy Nesbitt

Day 16…And baby makes three!

Meet Dean and Amy Nesbitt. Married last May, their lives have changed drastically in the last few months! Dean started his own lawn care and snowplowing company (contact him at deano6692 [at] yahoo.com). Amy will graduate this semester. And they are expecting their first child! This couple is hard working, honest and driven to succeed. We believe in them!

How did you two meet? We met when we were 16 years old. Dean was at his friend Ben’s house when he saw a picture of Amy and said “Wow, she’s hot!”. Ben said, “That’s my cousin Amy…” and provided Dean with Amy’s Instant Messenger information. After contacting her several times on IM (he is persistent), Amy agreed to meet face to face. After that, they couldn’t be separated.

What was your first date? We went bowling at Park Center Lanes in Wyoming..supervised by our matchmaker. Amy was nice enough to let Dean win that night in bowling (and every game since). There was no kiss on the first date though.

What was your favorite Valentine’s Day memory? Amy: “My favorite memory is so embarrassing, but I have grown fond of it over time. As a high school student, Dean sent flowers to me AT SCHOOL! I was in Spanish class and got called down to the office. They presented me with a bouquet of flowers and balloons that I had to carry around school…all day (they didn’t fit in my locker).”

That’s gusty Dean!  But that’s why we love ya!

The Kissing Project Day 15 | Lance & Lisa Climie

Day 15: Lance and Lisa Climie… Russ’ parents!

These two have been married over 30 years and Russ is the oldest of their 3 boys. Lance and Lisa are easily the most generous people we know. From taking in pets that need a good home, to people that need support, they taught Russ that we aren’t really human until we treat others with grace and mercy. Their relationship is a testament to passionate love. Taking this photo, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. We had to tell them to get a room, but since we were at their house, they already had one!

How did you two meet? We first met at Grand Valley State University. Lance had moved to Lansing for an internship with the State House of Representatives and while he was away, Lisa moved into Ravine Apartments (where Lance used to live) and into his circle of friends. When Lance returned, they met at a party (which in 70′s, was every night). It was love at first sight.

What was your first date? Lance: “I took Lisa to Mr. Steak (now the Toyko Roadhouse) for dinner. It was amazing. I was in love immediately.”

Lisa: “He had a $25 gift certificate from his grammy! It was hysterical. However, before we went back to Grand Valley, he stopped at his parent’s home near the restaurant to “go grocery shopping” in his mother’s pantry. I meet his parents the first night!”

Lance: “I never brought girls home. They were shocked. But we didn’t stay long.”

Lisa: “Not long…we were there for a half hour! I sat in their living room and had to try to chat with his parents while his mom knitted!”

What was your favorite Valentine’s Day memory? Lance has been in the restaurant world for over 30 years, which means he is always working on Valentine’s day. He never missed it though because he would send Lisa flowers every Valentine’s day.
