Day 19…Love at Moody, over photographs…
Meet John and Robyn Churchill! Together, they run Jonny Logo, featuring Michigan promotional products. John and Robyn are ‘idea’ people – the kind of people I relate to. The first time John and I sat down, we came up with about 10 different things each of us could implement in our businesses and many of those ideas are working right now for us (and him too)! These two are the proud parents of three lovely children and will be celebrating 30 years of marriage in May. Thoughtful and honest, they are a couple of integrity, which is rare.
How did you two meet? Robyn: “We were attending Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where I had just been dumped by a recent boyfriend, who was also a friend of John’s.”
John: “This so-called “buddy” of mine kept tearing her down and saying how the breakup was all her fault. I simply couldn’t stand it anymore, so I picked up the phone, called her in her dorm room around midnight. I told her that no matter what her mind was telling her, that she should disregard anything he said to her, because she was great! I had never met her.”
Robyn: “He was a real hero that night and didn’t even know it…”
What was your first date? Robyn: “After we talked on the phone, we didn’t actually meet until months later, while in the cafeteria. After that, John called to invite me to a ‘photo party’ at the lounge in the guys dorm…Girls where never allowed upstairs! I was told to bring my favorite photo albums to share with the group. That way everyone could get to know each other. Well I showed up with my album and guess who was the only other person there…yep, John! He had his album, I had mine.”
What was your favorite Valentine’s Day memory? With three kids, we were always focused on creating Valentine’s Day memories as a family. Every year, in late February we would travel north to ski with the kids for a long weekend. Barring injuries (which happened on several occasions, including broken bones and serious falls), we had a great time!
