Day 20…Girls stand back, this one married a florist!
Meet Bob and Jan Brewer! Owners of Brew’s Creations in Floral for over 6 years, we meet this amazing couple while photographing a wedding they were providing flowers for. Since then, Bob and I have traded referrals back and forth, gaining more than a working relationship, also respect and genuine friendship. He and his wife Jan have been married 36 years and have three grown children, one grandchild and another on the way! They have the biggest hearts we have ever seen and seek to serve everyone (clients, family and friends) to the very best of their ability. By the way, did we mention they are taking Valentine’s Day orders?
How did you two meet? We met at a Youth for Christ internship training at Wheaton College in Illinois. Bob was checking in for the 3 week training and there was Jan, registering the arriving students. On the last day, it seemed that everyone else had left early, except Bob. He was taking a late flight. We went for a walk, we talked and we’ve been walking and talking ever since.
What was your first date? Bob: “After we first met, we would see each other off an on at Youth for Christ events, but we got to know each other through phone calls and letters. We wrote almost everyday and called as often as we could – our phone bills were staggering. I was in New York during the Christmas season, unable to go home and see her. We were broke ministry workers! My parents called out of the blue, said “We’re sending you to see Jan in Lansing…” and off I went. I arrived, asked her to marry me and THEN we went out on our first “official” date. It was quite a Christmas!”
What was your favorite Valentine’s Day memory? Jan: “The BEST Valentine’s Day we’ve spent together was out in California! We were at a Youth for Christ Conference when Bob surprised me with flowers in our hotel room, with flower petals all over the room and floor and then a romantic dinner just the two of us. It was great!”
