Michigan Wedding Photography | George and Susan at the ICCF

Friday, May 28th, 2010

George and Susan were a great referral! How we met them was actually through my brother (Patrick, aka Felix at the Green Well). George and Susan are regulars at the Green Well and were talking to my brother how they were getting married, had met with a wedding photographer in town, but weren’t impressed. My brother (the good guy he is) told them to check out my website, wrote it down for them and a couple of days later contacted me.

We met over coffee at Biggby in Cascade and hit it off right away. They told us how they planned a casual strolling dinner, small intimate ceremony at the ICCF and then wanted to dance the night away to the music of the Lazy Blue Tunas. They wanted an outdoor ceremony in early May at the ICCF, which got us very excited. As the day arrived though, they were not expecting 50 degree temperatures along with 20+ mph winds. Needless to say, the ceremony was moved inside.

There was no need to worry though because Susan’s niece, Michelle, was taking care of their big day. Michelle is a wedding planner at Frederik Meijer Gardens and we have known each other for over a year. I knew with her in charge, everything would work out wonderfully! She coordinated the food from Cherry Street Deli, the cake from MiraBella Confections and all the other details that go along with a wedding day.

Since my wife couldn’t make the wedding, I had Lauren from Pegasus Photography come up from Kalamazoo and second shoot with me.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year Nominee

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

I just wanted to say congratulations to Tami VandenBerg of the Meanwhile Bar for winning the 2010 Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. If you haven’t been to the Meanwhile, make sure you visit and make sure you say hello to Dan, my little brother. He’s been there for a while now and it’s hard to be sad that we didn’t win when you know your little brother works at the place that did win.

In the meantime, the Grand Rapids Business Journal put together some great articles about all the nominees from last weeks event and I thought I’d share a few with you here (since you can’t access them through the GRBJ’s website). Also, thanks to Keri Larsen at the Saint Mary’s Doran Foundation for sending the article over to me, I honestly didn’t even remember it was there!

Michigan Wedding Photography | Ralph + Mary Ann at Calvary Church

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

It was a pleasure to be a part of Ralph and Mary Ann’s day in April. These two are both widowers and somehow God decided to bring them (and their families) together. Since Ralph has been an apple farmer for his entire life, he called on the day of the wedding and said, “since it’s so nice out, do you think we could go to Robinette’s before all the church photos?” We said of course! The apple farm was a great way to start off the day.

Then it was outdoor family photos at Calvary Church and then a beautiful ceremony officiated by one of Ralph’s close friends. The evening was intimate, even though there were family members and friends from all around the country.

Enjoy their website below (yes we can embed the website right into our blog – pretty cool, isn’t it!)
