Would you like to meet our little guy?

After 16 years of marriage, 10 years trying to have a family, 5 years after IVF doctors told Rebecca she’d never have a natural born child, we welcomed a miracle into our home on September 11, 2019.

For this we prayed many, many years, as did many other faithful friends.

We’d love you to meet Bruce Fred George Climie!

His name is very meaningful to us and many have asked where it comes from.

I am named after my two Great Grandfathers, Russell Allen.

As we considered names, we realized the name Russell Allen was meaningful not only to me, but also to my parents and grandparents, who, whenever they said my name (or yelled it at me), remembered both Russell and Allen, two men who were very influential in their lives.

We wanted to have the same be true for our son.

Bruce is Russell’s Grandfather (Bruce’s Great Grandfather) and Fred is Rebecca’s Grandfather (as well as her Father, Fred Jr, so it has double meaning in Rebecca’s family).

George is from George Samra, the man responsible for helping me to grow spiritually in my early 20s and who, along with his wife Nancy, mentored Rebecca and I for nearly 8 years!

Knowing that these 3 have been some of the most influential men in our lives, it made us smile to think that every time we said “Bruce Fred George Climie” it would double our joy: we will call our son and say the names of the men we love so dearly (2 of whom are no longer with us).

Rebecca looks wonderful following a long labor and non-scheduled c-section during Bruce’s birth.

We are so thankful for our OBGYN doctor, Anita Van De Burg and our doula team Jamie and Lindsey from Gold Coast Doulas.

I don’t know how Rebecca (or I for that matter) would have made it through the 26 hour labor without their expertise, wisdom and help.

If this isn’t enough baby spam for you today, I’d suggest following me on Instagram where we’ve been posting about Baby Bruce on a regular basis.

In the meantime, enjoy your week and remember, you are a miracle, just like our little boy Bruce!
