2 Posing Tips to Help You Look Better For Photos

Some feel more comfortable in front of a camera. Others not as much.

If you’re ever feeling stuck trying to figure out the best poses to give you your best on camera look, here are two tips that each of our clients are taught:

  1. Lean Forward, Not Backwards

Don’t catch yourself doing the “selfie slouch”.  We spend our days in front of a computer and slouch. Think about your posture right now as you read this.

We tell clients that your photo is simply the new handshake, when you shake hands you lean forward toward the other person, don’t you?

So put your weight on the front of your feet, lean toward the camera, not away from it.

2. The 1 Leg Pose

To help clients look confident in front of the camera, you can steal this posing tip from Kim Kardashian, it’s the 1 leg pose. Keep your dominant foot in front and put the other behind you, making a T-shaped stance with your feet (hence the title “1 leg pose”).

With your feet set, turn your belly button 45 degrees away from the camera. Your waist is now turned away from the camera as well.

Finally, pivot your nose and face back toward the camera, looking at the person taking your photo.

With your weight forward and in the 1 leg pose, every person we photograph looks thinner and more engaged with the camera.

Follow these two step tips and watch your photographs transform!
