Creative Ideas To Connect With Your Audience After Postponing An Event

Have you postponed (or even canceled) an event and thought to yourself, “What are we going to do? How can we stay engaged with our attendees and audience?”

If that sounds like you, we want you to know everything is going to be okay.

In fact, there are several creative ideas that you can take advantage of that will allow you to connect with the audience you won’t be in front of in the near future.

One of the best we have seen has come from ACG Western Michigan following the postponement of a March 2020 event.

The event included the announcement of the winners of a competition held in February. Colleges from across the state brought teams to compete in ACG Cup.

After the event was postponed, the association asked the question, “How can we get the announcement to students in a professional and engaging way? Why not shoot a video of the announcement and include footage of the competition day? “

The association reached out and we were able to film the winning announcement in under 1 hour of time and provide an edit right on time for their desired roll out.

In addition to announcing the winners, the association also published the Cup Competition highlight video which was filmed earlier in the year.

In a time when students are away from campus taking virtual classes, don’t you think a highlight video like this will get them excited for the event in early 2021?

What other ideas have we seen to help groups reach their audiences?

Record and Broadcast

You have access to the people and information your audience is looking for.

Why not film a speaker presenting on a topic that interests your audience and then broadcast that message across all your channels (email and social).

Presenters could create long form content for you (30+ minutes), something shorter (under 5 minutes) or something in between.

Interview Videos

Why not use the power of virtual meetings to your advantage?

Use the access you have to your network and have someone your audience trusts interview that person.

Record the conversation using the virtual meeting software of your choice and publish the video.

Would your audience see value from the content?

Imagine if you did 5 of these type of meetings a week for the next 4 weeks?

Here is an example of content created with an owner of event venues talking about the current situation.

Panel Videos

Using the same thought process from the Interview Video idea, why not have a panel discussion through your virtual meetings?

Invite experts to your video calls, record the conversation and then publish the content.

Imagine the panel of experts shares the video with their audiences, they will help you extend your videos reach just because they are being featured.
