You Have Photos & Videos from Your Event…Now What?

Now that you’ve had your event professionally photographed, you might be asking yourself, “What’s Next?”

You may have grand ideas on what you are going to do with the photos and videos or you may have no idea what you should do with your newly created media.

Either way, we wanted to provide you some of the best practices we’ve seen from the past many years working with clients both big and small.

Key Principle: The event only happens once, but the photos and video you share last forever and help viewers relive the event over and over again.

If you only remember one idea from this post, this is the idea to take with you. Though your event comes and goes, the photos live on for years to come.

Here are other great principles to help you with your photo and video plans:

  • Share Them. You want to expose your photos in any way possible. First share them with your team! Doing so, you can encourage your team to share them with their friends and family, as well as their online social networks. This helps you gain more exposure in the immediate aftermath of the event.

  • Create Galleries on Your Social Media Sites. Create galleries to showcase the collection of photos on each of your social sites. You can highlight all of the excitement that your event presented and allow your audience to view your images conveniently.

  • Scheduled Social Media Posts. Now that you have 50, 100, 500+ images from your event, you can make the most of your social feeds by scheduling individual posts to highlight the details of each image. Perhaps you want to share the design details or the people that attended your event. Create one post per day on each of your social media sites, until you have gone through the majority of your photos. Doing so gives your event and your images a second life, and reminds others of just how great it was spending time with you.

  • Send Email Blasts.  Your business likely uses email marketing (if not we need to talk). Use your email marketing game to share your event images after they’ve been posted to shocial media channels. This will help drive traffic to your social posts and provided added engagement. Create an eye-catching template to highlight the best photos from your event, so that your potential attendees can get a great feel for exactly what your business has to present to the world, along with all of the key-points from your event.

Once you do all this, who knows. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll sell another sponsorship for next years event or attract 5 new attendees here and 3 new attendees there.

It’s the long game when it comes to events. The question is are you going to utlize the photos and videos you have at your disposal to market and promote.

Remember, your event only happens once, but your photos will tell your story, making it so it lasts a lifetime!
