What to Expect with a Portrait Session?
When looking for a new professional portrait, questions arise. Typically, questions focus around “how does this work” or “what is included” or “what does it cost”.
One of the goals we have is to make the process of a new portrait simple and enjoyable. To better help accomplish that goal, here is a quick layout of the process we walk through with clients interested in portrait sessions.
When an inquiry arrives in our inbox, the questions we like to ask are:
1) Are you in need of one or two updated portraits? Or, are you in need of a larger collection of images for your marketing needs?
If you’re looking for one or two images, the session will most likely last 10-15 minutes. If you’re looking for a larger collection of images for marketing, then a 30-to-60-minute session (or a longer ½ day session) will be what you’re looking for.
2) Would you like us to come to your place of business or would you like to come to our studio?
Many of our clients like having us come to them as it reduces the time staff is away from their desks. However, many clients also love sending staff to our studio as it’s a way to provide staff with a unique experience.
3) Are you interested in professional hair and makeup to take your session to the next level?
We have professionals who provide both and have 10+ years’ experience in both the film and still photography world.
Based on the answers to these questions, we then set a date and time for your portrait session.
What should you expect on the day of your portrait?
We will arrive ahead of the scheduled session time for the needed equipment setup.
The time a client spends in front of our camera will be relaxed and include questions, conversation and dad jokes (because who doesn’t smile at a good dad joke).
We will have the specific purpose and intent in mind of the client’s new portrait and shoot a collection of images that best represents who they are.
Following the session, clients receive a proofing gallery to select their favorite images from the session. Images in the gallery are lightly cropped and edited, but not ready to publish. Images are marked as “Favorites” for further editing.
Full, professional editing of selected images ensures clients look their best in their favorite photos and images are delivered via digital download in hi-resolution format, ready for publication.
Receiving quality images in a comfortable and confident way is certainly of importance! This is just how our process works here at Tiberius Images, a Grand Rapids, Michigan business photographer, to ensure that you do!
