These engagement photos have been a long time in the making. We originally met Kyle & Jaclyn at Nick and Sam's Mill Creek Barn wedding back in 2013. Then in 2014, they were a part of Troy and Malorie's wedding at Grand Ledge Country Club. Both times we enjoyed spending time with them and getting to know their story.
When we met them back in 2013 and saw them again in 2014, they were not yet engaged. That all changed earlier this year. You should ask them about their engagement story in early 2015 (I don't want to ruin the story for you).
Now they are planning a wedding. As they considered dates, they realized that almost all their family members were married on random holidays (Halloween, Nick & Sam on 4th of July weekend, Valentine's day, etc). So they thought, why not plan our wedding for Cinco de Mayo! We can have a taco bar, specialty drinks and a grand fiesta! So that's what they are doing.
As we talked about their engagement photos, they knew they wanted a fall theme. The only issue we had was Jaclyn was traveling for work for 5 weeks while the fall colors came out in Michigan. We had a single day at the end of October that we could schedule their session for and they chose The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. The Village is an refurbished mental hospital that is supposedly haunted, but the developer has created an amazing space for business and guests alike.
The day turned out to be perfect and we found out the next day that a fairly large storm rolled through the evening we were shooting photos and took all the remaining leaves off the trees. Thank goodness we were able to capture the fall colors as the tail end of the season!
