Gatherings of Hope | Grand Rapids Portrait Photography
Gatherings of Hope is a collaboration of congregational leaders and learning teams joining together to leverage the power of community. Through the Family Leadership Initiative, 14 students received Gatherings of Hope Honor Society academic awards in 2015. After clergy, teachers, parents, coaches, and mentors nominated students, a team of judges chose winners based on how they exhibit seven classic virtues: faith, hope, love, wisdom, justice, fortitude, and temperance. Through the work of Creative Change Mission, a Grand Rapids based studio that serves public interest communication programs, we were connected with the 14 award winning students for portraits. The images are being used on the Gatherings of Hope website and for additional projects in the promoting opportunities within their program.
Creative Change Mission did a wonderful job of coordinating students (and parents) schedules. We utilized a studio space in the downtown Grand Rapids area that gave us the ability to shoot great seamless portraits (white backdrop). One photographer (Jason) was in the studio with students, while I was outside the building taking environmental portraits for the project as well. All the photographs were coordinated and completed in a 2 hour time frame, meaning the final outcome was a total team effort!
The overall look and feel of the portraits was encouragement, success and conveying the values that Gatherings of Hope promotes through its programs.
